it was 100% worth it for me, because it was something my wife and i always wanted to do. alinea is expensive, but compared to other restaurants with 3 michelin stars/world’s 50 best/whatever it’s comparable. it’s a lot of food, which was great for me but my wife was definitely slowing down after course #10 or so.
Alinea , Next and The Aviary all tack on a 20 percent service charge in place of tips. (Next and Alinea sells tickets for its dinners, which includes that service charge. The meal is paid for when the ticket is purchased.) The service charge is not a tip , and therefore back-of-house workers can receive this money.
What is the dress code at Alinea ? Our dress code is “smart casual.” We only ask for no ripped jeans, t-shirts, ball caps, hats or tennis shoes. Jackets are not required, though many guests do opt to wear them.

When you eat at Alinea you have to get a ticket. There are no menu like in most restaurants. You book and prepay a ticket at the Alinea website. Once it’s time to eat all you have to do is to show up.
In a 5-course tasting menu, you go from meat, straight to dessert . Here we have Angelito Mousse with sunflower seed crust, molasses candied black currants, carrot cake, and carrot sherbet. The tasting menu can also be paired with wines that are chosen to complement the flavors on your plate.
